Suspension Upgrade Project Part II: KP Components 6-Link
This truck was 4-linked (KP Components) with the original bag job in 2002, so adding on the cantilever section upgraded the 4-link to a 6-link, allowing the airbag to be placed behind the axle instead of over-the-axle. The cantilever section was added to the truck without touching the existing setup, meaning there was very little down-time for this upgrade. I drove the truck with the 6-link installed and the bags still over the axle for a few days because of time constraints and NEEDING the truck.
While a 4-link was awesome in 2002 (and certainly still is today), it seemed only logical to me that a suspension upgrade in nearly 2007 should and would include the latest and greatest, which was the KP Components 6-link. Hello smoother ride!
The first picture shows the cantilever addition, while the second picture shows the whole KP Components 6-link setup. The third picture shows the S-10 with only the KP Components 4-link, and the last picture shows the completed 6-link (minus bag relocation, as this linkage was the first step in the suspension overhaul).
