I never envisioned myself as one of THOSE people, who actually drives far to get to work every day, during rush hour. What idiots! But I am; I am a commuter. Find a job closer to home! Move! Simple, done! Well, not that simple, and yes, that is now me. About three hours a day and 90 miles are spent getting to and from work. On top of that, my daily driver (and my only ride actually, who are we kidding here), is my bagged S-10. Project, commuter, show truck, and sole transportation all describe my average 1999 S-10. Five months and a zillion miles later, I still find myself in this situation with little hope of it changing soon. I've only been towed home once (and then two days after that in a different bagged truck, but that's a different story). Some have told me I should leave my truck safely tucked in at home, and get some POS commuter. But I just can't picture spending three hours a day in some stock, boring car, when my job is to be around trucks all day. It just doesn't work out. So if I were to get some POS commuter, it would be another bagged mini truck with all the same issues of... a bagged truck. Some say to just leave it stock, but again, that just wouldn't happen. The bottom line is that I look forward to driving my truck to and from work each day. It is my pleasure, and time flies. I would rather put a zillion miles on it and literally wear the truck out or crash it than let it sit in some garage somewhere while I drive a Dodge Neon to work. That's just not me, and it won't ever happen that way. I'd rather invest in making my current truck safe and reliable than in some Honda Civic. I'd rather take pride in having a bagged daily commuter than drive some Prius in the diamond lane. I would rather hear the noises, rattles, squeaks, and dragging bumper of a bagged truck than the quietness of a new stock car. I would rather get the "hit the switches" hand signals (and the confused blank stares) than the nodding approval of driving a Benz.
