Suspension Upgrade Project Part III: Slam Specialties RE-7 Airsprings

If you are just joining us, Commuter Status, my 1999 Chevy S-10, is undergoing a modest suspension upgrade. So far, the KP Components 6-link has been installed, and now it's time to utilize it by replacing and relocating the rear bags from over-the-axle to the behind the axle.

The over-the-axle bags rubbed because they were forced to compress into such a contorted position when aired down, so my choice of new bags was the Slam Specialties Evolution series of Airsprings. Having characteristics such as higher pressure, more stroke, no ballooning, faster lift, internal bump stops, and stronger and stiffer overall, I was excited to test out the performance, comfort, and quality of Slam bags.

Slam Specialties 1/2" single-port RE-7 200psi bags replaced the existing two year old bags for the rear. When mounted behind the axle on the 6-link, the bags compressed flat, looked sexy, and gave me the confidence to know that bags wouldn't be an issue on my truck again.

As for the ride quality with the KP 6-Link and Slam Bag combo out back? I wasn't going to say anything right now, but it is AWESOME, and YES it makes a difference.

Go pick up your own set of Slam bags at www.slamspecialties.com and don't worry about your bags anymore!
