The Next Step for Commuter Status: 3 SOURCE

Upcoming Plans for 1999 Chevrolet S10

Will 5 months be enough time for my S10, Commuter Status, to transform into its next version, 3 SOURCE? We'll see!

It always amazes me just how quickly time flies! Now that my 1999 S10's suspension upgrade has been completed for more than half a year, and I have another vehicle to drive daily, it's time for the next step for the former Commuter Status!

Taking into account my own style, goals, and means, here's what I've come up with. I think those that know me would agree that my style is more badass than bling; this is also evident by the fact that I preferred to upgrade the suspension over doing anything "cool" to the exterior. While I love the immaculate cover truck, I know this just isn't me! I worry way too much as it is - having a super clean truck would take the fun out of it for me. I'm more of a hands-on person than a don't-touch person. I've always liked the really clean and simple sleeper trucks that are often written off as lame and weak.

Heck, I don't even have rims, and part of my plans include... not getting rims. Yep, I really let the ball drop this time! Don't get me wrong, I did test fit some rims on the truck, and thought that was the direction I wanted to go. However, I just wasn't impressed enough to make that kind of investment, and actually the idea having to be careful hopping and pulling 3-wheel made me sad. I felt like I would be losing my truck, for the sake of putting rims on it for everyone else to enjoy but me. Understand that I have already invested in this truck's suspension, and I want to be able to enjoy it even MORE than I already do! In addition, I remember laughing at myself when I realized I was the only truck at a show with stock rims. While that might seem like a call for sympathy, it actually encouraged me to keep the stocks. I figured if I was keenly aware that I was THE ONLY TRUCK, maybe I should just go with it! Being THE ONLY TRUCK is a goal for many, including me! Why not tub out the front, get some cool control arms, run stock size tires (205/75/15), powdercoat the rims, and call it done? Hey, why not powdercoat some of the other components while we're at it, and finish the interior with some nice billet? Small rim and huge tire takes the same amount of work to lay out as a huge rim and small tire. Plus, I'll probably need that rubber for when the turbo comes.

So, where does the 3 SOURCE part come in? Three sources of air for the suspension - engine driven compressor, 2 Air Zenith compressors, and a nitrogen bottle, should be good enough to really see what the system is capable of. Again, there is a reason for the stockies! Yes, sounds like a plan to me, so stay tuned for me!

Completion goal: Resolutions 2008

My ideas are simple; I'll leave the crazy stuff to you guys!
