I don't know about you guys, but I've really been enjoying our newest community feature, Readers' Rides.
I find the project trucks and completed rides fascinating, as each truck represents its owner's style and means. Each morning, it's the first thing I check; actually, it has become pretty addicting! In doing this, I've also noticed that in general, trucks vary from region to region. I find myself guessing the location of a truck, based on the few pictures provided and the description. Sometimes a picture's background helps indicate where a truck is located. Other indicators include word choices, modifications, stickers, clubs, and the overall styles of the rides.
In order to facilitate my little guessing game, I divided a US map into 5 regions into which, according to my perceptions, custom mini trucks would be grouped, based on geographical region. This way, I would be able to look at a truck and guess the region of its location.
I realize that these divisions are completely arbitrary, based on my own perceptions of what mini trucks must be like countrywide. In reality, I haven't been to more than a few states nationwide, so I don't have anything to base my divisions off of, except from my own impressions, and from looking at trucks online and checking where they're from. So, from my position in Los Angeles, California, this is how I divided my regions.
If you had 5 regions in which to group mini truckin' in the US, how would you do it? Your perception is probably very different from mine! On the blank map, show us how YOU would mark off five regions, and indicate where you live. I realize any truck could come from anywhere nationwide, but it's a fun game anyway, and I still say that given a ride profile, you can at least narrow it down.
