How Atrocious!

1999 Toyota Tacoma Needs Suspension Repair

The owner of this 1999 Toyota Tacoma wasn't joking when he said his truck was in no shape to make the 600 mile round trip to Havoc Havasu this year.

Once his truck was torn apart, I realized he wasn't just being a little girl full of lame excuses; his truck wasn't even road-worthy, period. Seeing the condition of the parts that came off his truck reminded me of the January 2008 Mind of Macias column and my response, where we talked about dragging and what to drag. However, we failed to mention that dragging through your suspension's link bars probably isn't a good idea, and that dragging compressors isn't a good idea, either. Additionally, dragging drive shaft on crossmembers isn't advisable, and having a cracked frame is not cool either. And lastly, bashing in the side of a gas tank in order to make room for a link bar just causes problems in the long run!

Enjoy the following pictures; hopefully your truck does not look this atrocious underneath the bed! And if it does, please, get it off the road! It's all fun and games until you realize there are trucks in this condition on the road! At least this owner was lucky enough to get it off the road before a major failure.
