One of the advantages of my job is that I can capitalize on those things that excite, distract, or concern me. Instead of rendering me completely unproductive when my attention strays, these things can actually contribute to my day's work.
The thing that has my attention right now is this weekend's Red Bull Drifting World Championships in the Port of Long Beach, California. Featuring 32 drifters from 12 nations, this Red Bull/Forumla DRIFT event claims to bring the best drifting drivers worldwide together for one single event with a huge prize purse of 25k for 1st place, 15k for 2nd place, and 10k for 3rd place. Red Bull throws crazy, ostentatious, big-buck, treacherous events. I don't know how they pull it off, but I'm sure glad they do. I think we need Red Bull to support a massive truck show, don't you? Long Beach, home of many sporting events and concerts, is not only the perfect place to construct the needed purpose-built drift track, but also the perfect city for these cars to parade through at night. I think any mini trucker could get excited about this!
