I had an absolute blast at this year's FFF show! Instead of blazing hot sunshine (which normally makes for an awesome sunburn), cool and cloudy conditions hung around all day.
Surprisingly, it was a great day, despite a few things. First, I woke up late. My alarm didn't go off - because I didn't set it. I fell asleep before setting it, and also before charging my video camera and still camera. Party foul. Luckily, we were camped out right next to a pole with a fantastic set of electrical outlets. Score!
Second, I got a flat on the way out, at dark o'clock in the morning. Last year I got rolled on the way out, this year a flat. This is the only show I've had trouble getting to! Thankfully, Tom in his Tacoma stopped with me, seeing something was wrong, and my boyfriend, inquiring as to if it was me he had just passed on the side of the freeway, came back. My brother, who was ahead in his Toyota, called me right away. I felt very cared for! Luckily I had all the spare tire goodies along for the ride, and was on the road again in no time.
After a few moments on the road, I noticed that I had left my EDC on after the tire fiasco and had pumped a whopping (and still increasing) 302psi on the freeway. This is way more pressure than I ever want to run on the freeway. I felt like I had just accidentally pulled the pin of a grenade that I was holding, and that surely I was seconds away from blowing a line. Ironically and ultimately luckily, my brother had done the same thing a week before, and after blowing a line, had added more steel braid. I held my slow dump and lift open for probably almost a minute in order to relieve some pressure.
Having an S10, it is hard to stand out at a show. However, I think I accomplished it this year by being THAT truck - the only one to roll in on a spare tire. What else was I to do? I put some tire gel on the spare and added the center cap, in an effort to pacify the atrocious rolling attire blunder. Good thing I don't "show" to win. I must say, I like the idea of black rims.
