A lot goes into bolting our little magazine together each month, and sometimes the initial starting point is anything but glamorous.
Although drawing is obviously not our strongest creative asset, we still manage to transform even the crudest of sketches and brainstorms into somewhat decent looking covers every now and then. We knew we wanted an angled driving shot for the Jan. '11 cover, and we had an idea of what we wanted to say, but sometimes returning to third grade level artwork can make things crystal clear. Is there a lesson from this blog post? Not really. Just wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes glimpse of where ideas are sometimes born before they evolve into something we think is finally good enough for our readers. Oh and please feel free to criticize and joke about this drawing all you want!
